Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA)

Controlled Environment Agriculture, commonly known as indoor or greenhouse growing, is increasingly becoming a fast growth segment in the agriculture industry. Indoor growing removes the challenges presented by outdoor environments such as weather, drought, and soil inconsistencies. Indoor growing affords the grower the ability to produce year-round, with increased growing cycles. Several methods of growing occur indoors, some include vertical stacking, hydroponic and aeroponic. Increasing productivity by safeguarding crops from imperfect conditions is the mainstay of this farming sector. Controlled Environment Agriculture creates a growing environment that is totally enclosed and separate from any adverse outdoor conditions. This type of growing is technology-based with highly controlled resources like water, air, and light.
